Arts & Crafts Family House
We were tasked with the complete refurbishment of this Arts & Crafts family house on the outskirts of Winchester. Our client has a fantastic art collection and wanted to make the most of it. We directed every aspect of the project, from the initial creative concept to sourcing all finishes and designing bespoke joinery, to create a home that truly reflects them.
“We found working with Charlotte an exciting, creative and energising experience. She started with listening to our overall vision, rather than imposing her view for the house. We then discussed how to get a practical sense of what each room was to be used for, what would be appropriate for furniture and lighting, and the flow through each room. She had an excellent understanding of how the practical considerations could be overcome and how the natural light and unique characteristics of each room can be optimised. She was very considerate of budgeting options, and was flexible in helping us decide where to spend, and where we could imaginatively reuse and upcycle existing fabrics and furniture.
She has an incredible understanding of the power of pattern, texture and colour, and how they combine to create exciting visual spaces in the individual rooms and the house as a whole. We felt she encouraged us to be bold and brave in expressing our tastes, and helped to integrate and display our art collection into the decoration with dramatic effect.
